Who we are.
Warren Lewis.
Warren Lewis is the current owner of Godley Peaks Station. He’s been on and around the land since he was a young boy and now he’s returned home.
Godley Peaks Station is a historic high country station that I have a deeply personal connection with, and long-standing family ties. My family and I have generational memories on the land and I have a fierce desire to preserve its beauty and heritage for future generations.
Bruce Scott was my godfather and I spent my early years on Godley Peaks station. It’s a special place that I have returned to time and again. As a young fella, I’d go up every holiday and work wherever I could. The family would be at our bach at Lake Alexandrina and I’d spend my days fixing, lifting, carrying, and generally working as a farm hand. I loved every minute. I learned to drive tractors, make hay, paint, build, labour, and drive the dozers. I didn’t get special treatment but I did get opportunities. When I was older I’d drive up on my motorbike and go to stay at Godley for a few weeks at a time.
I left the South Island to chase business success, and have achieved those goals. In purchasing the station, I do not see it as a trophy piece, as a place to visit a few times a year, or something to be held up as an example of success. This is my home and I am a custodian of the land for the next generation, as those who introduced me to the land were the guardians of their generation.
